This lovely mahogany kalimba from UNOKKI features 17 keys and notes: 1(D), 2(B), 3(G), 4(E), 5(C5), 6(A), 7(F), 8(D), 9(C4), 10(E), 1(G), 12(B), 13(D), 14(F), 15(A), 16(C6), and 17(E). The tone is the same as that of a piano: International C tune.

The kalimba is an ideal personal instrument that’s portable enough to take anywhere. It’s smaller than a 13-inch computer and a little bigger than a cell phone – great for performance, recording, family time, outdoor use, parties or school music classes.

To make this instrument even easier to play, simply block off the upper 7 notes – leaving the 10 centered notes (from E to D) – and use the instructional book for the 10-key kalimba.

How to Tune?

You can use a portable tuner, tuned piano, cellphone or tuning hammer.

There are many free apps available for both Android and iOS devices. Just search for “Tuner.”

Tuning steps:

Pluck the middle tine of the kalimba.
Use the tuning hammer to tune the tine, until the note in the tuner matches the default note and the pointer points to the center position.

The kalimba is extremely easy to learn and to play. You simply press the keys or tines with your thumbs.

Every UNOKKI kalimba is tuned and tested before it’s shipped. The tone is the same as a piano: International C tune.
